New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Monday dismissed a petition challenging the conduct of the NEET UG 2026 re-test, observing that the matter had become infructuous as the examination process had already concluded and subsequent admission procedures were underway.
The petition sought judicial intervention regarding the re-test conducted by the authorities, raising concerns over the examination process. However, during the hearing, the Bench noted that the re-test had already been completed and the counselling and admission process had substantially progressed. In these circumstances, the Court held that no effective relief could be granted at this stage.
The Supreme Court therefore declined to examine the merits of the challenge and disposed of the petition as infructuous. The Bench clarified that since the events complained of had already taken place and the relief sought could no longer be implemented, there was no reason to continue the proceedings.
